Monster Hunter Wilds Long Forgotten Flame walkthrough
Facing the heat.
The Long Forgotten Flame mission in Monster Hunter Wilds sees you facing the Black Flame - a dangerous monster who loves fire.
Though, even before you face the Black Flame, you'll have to defeat another monster who longs for your death in Monster Hunter Wilds. Due to this, we highly recommend taking the time to ensure you're properly prepared after completing the previous mission, Hopes of Home. You don't want to end up being a monster's dinner after all…
When you're ready, you'll find our Long Forgotten Flame walkthrough for this Monster Hunter Wilds mission down below.

Monster Hunter Long Forgotten Flame walkthrough
Before you talk to Werner to begin the Long Forgotten Flame mission in Monster Hunter Wilds, it's an excellent idea to visit Gemma and see what equipment she currently recommends. This is because you will be thrown into a monster fight straight away in this mission and it's always best to be prepared. You may also want to stop by your tent to ensure your inventory is fully stocked.

We recommend ensuring your wearing heat-resistant armor and weapons. Inventory-wise you're going to need cool drinks, Deodorant and items like Watermoss. It's also a good idea to keep an eye out for Chillmantle Bugs. (While the last mission forced you to tackle the cold, you're now going to be facing the heat.)
With all of this in mind, talk to Werner when you're ready to begin Long Forgotten Flame. After a cutscene, you'll have to repel the Ajarakan. Like when you fought the Uth Duna during Beyond The Deluge, this still means you're fighting the monster. Unlike the Uth Duna, your objective will quickly transform into hunting the Ajarakan. Either way, we recommend visiting our how to beat the Ajarakan guide if you'd like some additional help on defeating this monster.

When the monster is slayed, it is, of course, your natural right to get anything you can from its remains before the quest ends. It will then be cutscene time and, afterwards, you'll be given the time to finish your preparations. It's worth taking advantage of this time to do so as there's another monster hunt coming up, so make sure you have everything you need in your inventory and the recommended equipment (both weapons and armor) before setting forth.
Once again, we recommend ensuring you're stocked up on cool drinks and items like Watermoss. You may also want to consider bringing water-based weapons and Shock Traps for fighting the Black Flame.
When you're ready, jump atop your Seikret and begin searching for the Black Flame (also known as Nu Udra). The Scoutflies will guide you through a cavern before jumping out a hole in the wall and lead you to a pit elevator, which you need to use.

You will now find yourself in a new area and, if you open your map, you'll be able to see where the Black Flame is roaming about. Using this and your Scoutflies, you'll be able to quickly locate it! Though it's a good idea to perform a manual save first - things are about to get hot.

Don't worry though, we've got a guide on how to beat the Black Flame, Nu Udra, ready and waiting for you! You're in for a long hunt though, so don't forget to have the odd meal in-between bouts with the Black Flame to keep both your health and stat boosts up.

When it is down for the count (finally!), make sure you carve up that carcass for some useful goodies. You might even find some other useful materials before the quest ends. A cutscene will then round off Long Forgotten Flame before you receive your item rewards, 50 Guild Points and have the pop-up camp limit for the Basin increased.
There's still some things to do before you can properly move onto the next mission though. The first is an optional task of talking to six of your Guildmates, which you're free to skip if you like. (I'm not your boss.) I do recommend doing some more weapon and armor upgrades though before you decide to start the next mission.
When you're ready to continue with the main campaign, talk to Rosso at the base camp in the Windward Plains - you can either fast travel there or take the long road home. Talking to him will begin another cutscene and, afterwards, you'll find yourself at the beginning of Chapter 3 - The Faithful Keepers.

Best of luck in Monster Hunter Wilds!
